Magic By Species

Here you will find information about how each particular species views and interacts with magic. Some species (such as Humanity) have their own dedicated page, due to the amount of information written for their interaction with magic.

HUMANITY (Dedicated Page)

PROXIMANS

Proximans lack the capability for the genetic mutation responsible for innate magic. As such, their only experience with magic prior to contact with other species was limited, restricted only to the long-standing cultural tradition of the family Lore-Keeper. Prior to the discovery that magic was actually a thing, Lore-Keepers were seen more along the lines of weird mutants who had a few useful abilities, and the voices that they claimed to speak to were just seen as raving delusions (albeit useful ones) of their usually drug-addled minds. Following first contact with humanity in the 2020s, Proximans have come to have a better understanding of magic and the way that the Lore-Keepers actually operate. Magic is seen as just another fundamental force, like gravity or electromagnetism, while the Lore-Keepers have begun to regain some of the respect they had in the days of yore. This has caused a resurgence in the Lore-Keeper tradition, and a few of the older religions that venerated Lore-Keepers as the speakers of truth have begin to rise in popularity again as well. Furthermore, the Proximans have now been exposed to magical devices from Earth, and are keen to understand how these objects work and how they can make more of them. After a few ‘incidents,’ the device trade has become heavily regulated, with all imports requiring approval from the Suzerain’s Office of Supernatural Imports (a newly-created government office set up to oversee and regulate these objects).
