Courage

Giving up is what kills people. It’s only when a person refuses to give up no matter what,  they earn the right of walking down humanity’s noble pathway.

Sign

Courage has no sign.  See Influence.

Influence

You don’t back down.  No you won’t back down.  You could get stood up at the gates of Hell.  But you won’t back down.  (You will never retreat of your own volition.)

Automatic Power

Determined – Add one-half your character level (minimum 1) hit points to the healing granted by taking a Second Wind.

Granted Powers

  • Hardboiled – Whenever you spend 3 swift actions to use the Recover action, you move 2 steps up on the condition track instead of 1.  If you have the ability to Recover by spending less actions, this ability works with those abilities.
  • Never Outnumbered – When you have no allies within 20 squares of you, you gain a bonus to attack and damage equal to the number of enemies within 20 squares of you minus 2.  You gain a bonus to your defenses equal to the number of enemies within 20 squares of you minus 4.
  • Still Standing – You gain another box on the condition track, this one at -15 on the track. You can take this ability again to receive another box at -7.
  • Unstoppable – You gain 2 additional second winds per day.  You can take this Granted Power more than once.

Ultimate Power

Self-Revivification – Once per week when you suffer an attack that would kill you, either by being reduced past -10 HP or by dropping below 0 HP from damage that exceeded your damage threshold, you automatically revive on the next round (or 6 seconds later if out of combat).  You gain temporary hit points equal to your normal HP pool, but you lose 5 of these temporary HP each round until the combat encounter is either finished or you run out of these hit points.  At that time, you drop to -10 on the condition track (and correspondingly fall unconscious), and are placed at -1 HP but stabilized.  While this is in effect, you ignore all persistent conditions that move you down the condition track.
Once you are returned to consciousness after using this ability, you cannot rise beyond -5 on the condition track until you receive 8 hours of rest.
Methods that destroy your body (such as being at the epicenter of a nuclear detonation) or place you in a situation that you cannot recover from (ejected unprotected into the vacuum of space with no escape path nearby) still kill you as normal, unless activation of this ability prior being killed in that method could feasibly have given you a chance to escape that situation.  If this is the case, activate this ability, and you have 1 round to escape the situation.
