“portabo, et salvabo” – motto (“carry and deliver”)
General of the Army – Matthew Zimmerman
The Terran Alliance Army and Logistical Corps consists of the logistical machine that drives the TAAF, the ATVU Corps, the heavy weapons troopers, the more rank-and-file ground troops, and the military police that fulfill security contracts. The Army is regarded as the expert in heavy weapons systems, and traditionally operate in conjunction with the Marines when deployed to the front lines. Some Army troopers receive training with Marine Combat Armor and operate side-by-side in squads with Marines. The Terran Army is also responsible for fulfilling corporate contracts made with the TAAF for location security, due to the laws passed in the wake of the Belt Rebellion that outlawed private security forces.

Army Command (ArmCom)
Head:
Headquarters:
Army Command is headquartered on Navy Island, Ontario, Canada on Earth (in a location originally intended to hold the United Nations). Army Command oversees the operations of all other Commands, as well as personnel, readiness, and strategic planning.
Logistics Command (LogCmd)
Head:
Headquarters:
As Napoleon famously said, ‘an army travels on its stomach.’ Logistics Command’s job is to make sure that those stomachs are never empty due to broken supply lines, inadequate supplies, or lost shipments. It’s an unglamorous job, but somebody has to do it. Logistics Command is headquartered on Grand Island, NY, on Earth, in the same facility as Administration’s Resource Acquisitions department, as the two groups work closely together. Logistics Command also oversees the operation and command of military cargo vessels used to transport supplies to bases, and to resupply deployed fleets and scout teams. Unsurprisingly, Logistics Command is responsible for warehousing supplies and equipment of all sorts in numerous locations, but they are also in charge of vessels that have been mothballed, at least until the vessels are reactivated – at which point they are transferred to Navy control.
Security Command (SecCmd)
Head:
Headquarters:
Originally SecCmd just provided security and law enforcement for TAAF ground installations, but in the wake of the Belt Rebellion it has expanded out to be a far larger department, since the Terran Army is now responsible for fulfilling contracts for security at corporate locations.
Training (ArmTra)
Head:
Headquarters:
Army Training Command oversees the training of both enlisted men and officers. Enlisted troops are trained at any one of six training commands across the Alliance (four are on Earth, one is on Mars, and one has recently been opened on the Alpha Prime colony). Troops enlist for three, six or nine years and are trained in a technical specialization. Enlisted basic training takes six months, which is followed by a year and a half of additional on-the-job training.
Officers are trained at the Army Officer Academy complex in South Africa on Earth. Officer training takes four years, after which the officer is obliged to serve for another ten, although most make lifetime careers out of the Army. Similar to enlisted soldiers officers also choose a technical specialization. Specializations Include:
- Artillery
- ATVU Operations
- ATVU Maintenance
- Logistics
- Security
- Ordnance Survey
- Medical
Ordnance Survey (ArmOrdSur)
Head:
Headquarters:
The Ordnance Survey group is responsible for mapping planets. The Navy’s Survey Command actually finds the planets, but the ArmOrdSur’s radar and holography satellites then scan the planetary surface and produce detailed maps. Modern maps contain more than just geographic features; electronically integrated into their data is information on political and cultural groups, communications and power lines, stochastic weather models and so on. ArmOrdSur is a general-purpose spy network just as much as it is a cartography section.
ArmOrdSur is headed by General Benedict Hopper.
Army Medical (ArmMed)
Head:
Headquarters:
The Army Medical Command co-ordinates the efforts of the Medical section in each Army Group. It also operates the various military hospitals.
Science (ArmSci)
Head:
Headquarters:
The Science section focuses on research and development of new technologies and weapons, but has also made great strides in researching new medical treatments and life support techniques. The Army’s bases on different worlds does give it a unique opportunity to study different ecosystems (or lack thereof) and conditions.
ATVU Command (AtCom)
“fer magnum bombardium” – motto (“Carry a big gun”)
Head:
Headquarters:
The Terran All Terrain Vanguard Unit Force is a division of the Terran Army, focused on the use of ATVUs. Their primary role is close-range artillery and heavy weapons support. The All Terrain Vanguard Units developed during the Third World War were formidable weapons, and paled only in comparison to the space-based weaponry used during that conflict. A single detachment of ATVUs, 3 units, can decimate a city if properly supplied with ammunition, as was made evident during their use in the Battle of Rome and extensive use in Iran during World War III.
Special Operations Command (SpecOps)
Head:
Headquarters:
SpecOps is the unified special operations command, under Army jurisdiction.
While it primarily is in charge of relatively mundane (read: non-supernatural) forces, SpecOps does have the authority to call in support from the SDA’s 9th Directorate for certain operations.
Special Assault Service (SAS)
The best known of the SpecOps teams, the Special Assault Service are commandoes who can be dropped far behind enemy lines to complete the most difficult of missions. They are experts in reconnaissance, sabotage, infiltration and long-term covert training of indigenous peoples. They have access to the most advanced equipment, including holo-suits and black light suits.
Combat Swimmer Flotillas (CSF)
The ‘Killer Whales’ are the nautical version of the SAS, designed to operate in planetary oceans. They use MK7 wetsuits, which can crack oxygen from seawater for up to two weeks. They also use mini-submarines.
Forward Combat Recon (FCR)
The FCR are the elite recon units of Special Operations, equipped with the best in stealth and surveillance gear.
Combat Search and Rescue (CSR)
The CSR specialize in retrieving downed pilots and other stranded personnel. Every CSR operative is trained as a trauma medic, and the team can be dropped into the most hostile terrain and still make pickup. The CSR are undoubtedly the most honored branch of SpecOps in the TAAF, as many downed pilots owe the CSR their lives.
Team M and Team T
Team M and Team T are project that SpecOps engages in with the SDA. They focus on training mages and telepaths in SpecOps tactics for possible battlefield use, as well as in the creation of Devices for SpecOps usage, and the training of mundane troops in their use.
