Terran Alliance Marine Corps

“alle kämpfe” – motto (“Everyone fights”)

Brigadier of the Marine Corps – Sarah Delaney

The Terran Marines are the primary ‘grunts’ of ground combat, but calling them ‘grunts’ is by no means accurate. They have the lowest numbers in the TAAF, with the exception of TAPS and the ATVU force, but that is only because they do not rely on overwhelming numbers for victory. Their powered armored forces rely on both the logistics and shock and awe provided by the Army, but also on their own combat prowess. Terran Marines typically operate in small groups of squads, which usually consist of 6 marines. The Iwo Jima Class Mobile Marine Bases technically fall under their jurisdiction, even though they are crewed by Naval personnel.

The current Brigadier of the Marine Corps is Sarah Delaney, a veteran of the Bloody Friday battle who served with the United States and later the Western States of America during World War III. Beneath her are the Brigadiers of each corps, representing each of the four current Mobile Marine Bases, the three current static corps, and the Marine Corps Academy on Titan.

Unlike most of the other branches of the Armed Forces, the Marine Corps have resisted renaming their departments into Terran Standard, under the basis of honoring the original Brigadier of the Marine Corps, Elsa Adlersflügel, who was killed in action during the Belt Rebellion. Originally, the ranks were all German as well, but they were finally convinced to rename them to Terran Standard words.

Sturmkommando [Assault Command] (SturKom)

Sturmkommando is the branch is in charge of the primary operations of the Marine Corps – assault and destruction.

Head:

Headquarters: Fra Muro Highlands Base, Luna

Schmutzsturmkommando [Dirt Assault Command] (SchmutzSturmKom)

Also known as the planetary assault section, the “Schmutzes” as they are known are the leading edge of any attack on a planet. While all troops are ready to deploy from Marine Assault Craft, the Schmutz units can be fired in single-person drop pods from a standard hangar or specialized launcher (such as those found on Mobile Marine Bases). This tactic has evolved from the ORBIT technique developed during the Third World War. Even tanks and support vehicles can be dropped from orbit in this fashion. Schmutzes go in first; the regular marines follow them in.

Himmelsturmkommando [Heavens Assault Command] (HimSturKom)

The Himmelsturmkommando personnel are specially trained in zero-g combat techniques, and are used to seize enemy vessels or disabling their weapons systems.

Head:

Headquarters:

Also known as Marine Training Command and “Grunt School,” the Weltraummarineinfanteristentrainingseinrichtung is located on Titan, where all marines go through basic training and hostile environment training. Marines choose one squad role to train for, and go through a year and a half of in-academy training, and an additional 6 months of deployed training. The squad roles are: Demolitions, Mechanic, Medic, Scout, and Technician. Upon completion of this specialist training, Marines showing potential to be officers are sent first sent through basic primers in the squad roles other than what they trained for, and then to the Officer Training Academy.
