Rabota (Работа), which literally translates to “Work,” is a clandestine network of civilians engaging in intelligence gathering through HUMINT and OSINT methods. Founded in 2018 by a reclusive businessman who is known as Dmitry, Rabota harvests its intelligence from the upper crust of society by running a network of night clubs, social clubs, high-class restaurants, and other similar establishments. These establishments all cater to the rich and famous who prefer to be protected from the prying eyes of tabloid journalists, and are known for their discretion in accepting new clientele. This serves two functions – one – it protects the clients, and two – it puts a filter in place to ensure that anyone who is allowed membership in these establishments is actually a potential source of information. Rabota got its start in Moscow, but has grown to include other establishments on Earth and is currently considering opening up branches on Luna and Mars. Publicly, Rabota is known as Скрытое Ночная жизнь, ООО (Covert Nightlife, LLC), a corporation incorporated in Moscow which owns the establishments that Rabota operates out of.
Rabota operates with the permission of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, under the condition that the organization share information with the FIS. Recently, Rabota got caught infiltrating Terran Alliance Military Intelligence, and was forced to begin working as an independent agent for them, possibly feeding false information to the more suspicious elements of the FIS.
For a long time, Rabota’s known enemies were the 14K Triad in Hong Kong and the Russian Mafia, but recent events have caused them to have an openly hostile relationship with the nascent Red Dragon Syndicate on Mars.
Rabota has numerous establishments scattered across Earth, but several of their operations stand out from the others.
- Москва-река Чай и сигары (Moskva-reka Chay i sigary [Moskva River Tea and Cigars]), Moscow, Russian Federation – This social club is located along the Sofiskaya Embankment, just over the Moskva River from the Kremlin. It is Rabota’s original location, and to this day is still Rabota’s best source of information about what is happening inside the Russian Federation’s government. Frequented by members of the State Duma, Federation Council, and higher-ups in the Russian Armed Forces, the dimly-lit interior has seen many backroom deals take place since opening in 2019. The atmosphere inside is best described as “Cold War Gothic,” with the lights kept low, booths which are practically private rooms, and an ever-present haze of cigar smoke which mixes with the scents of some of the finest teas available in Moscow. Unlike many of Rabota’s establishments, this locale is not a members-only club, and sees a fair amount of business from foot traffic frequenting its cigar and tea shop in the front of the location.
- The Grizzly Rose, City of Westminster, London, England- Another of Rabota’s social clubs for the rich and powerful, the Grizzly Rose is a members-only social club located off of Trafalgar Square. Any number of high-profile figures in the Greater London area can be found here, as the location has a reputation for being one of the best places to avoid the prying eyes of the media. Aside from that, its liquor selection is excellent. The Grizzly Rose is decorated and laid out like an old English pub (giving it an odd, rather lower-class appearance inside), creating a very open environment for the rich and powerful to rub shoulders free from the view of those who are hungry for information or a story.
- Dynasty, West Kowloon, Hong Kong, People’s Republic of China – This establishment in the West Kowloon Cultural District was the flagship operation of Covert Nightlife (and therefore Rabota) until the 14K Triad decided that Rabota was becoming a threat to their operations in Hong Kong. On 11 July 2027, Dynasty was raided by the 14K Triad and a battle broke out which caused extensive damage to the facility and wounded or killed a large portion of its staff. Thanks to the quick actions of Dynasty’s staff, the covert surveillance and monitoring hardware in the building were not discovered, and the facility reopened a year later after extensive renovations, which include clandestine (and probably illegal) defensive systems which were later added to all of Rabota’s operations. Dynasty’s interior decoration harkens back to Ancient China, and is best summed up with the word "elegant." Like many of Rabota’s operations, it is a members-only affair with a 2,000 Credit yearly membership fee.
- DeeCee Steak, Washington, Washington Federal Zone, Coalition of America – Another of Rabota’s business which is not a members-only club, DeeCee Steak is a world-renowned steakhouse located on Embassy Row in Washington. Built in the former Embassy of the Bahamas, which sold the building to Covert Nightlife in 2023 (they had moved their offices into the new Embassy of the Caribbean League the previous year), DeeCee Steak opened in 2024 to much sneering from the other steakhouses in town. It took a few years, but DeeCee Steak has managed to gain their own population of fans in the WFZ’s sizable lobbyist population, and its private dining rooms see much activity from government officials and other influential people. While it is open to the public, reservations have to be made weeks in advance…unless you are on the list of people that know about the members-only private dining floor in the basement.

4-12 | Employee | Employees are the basic rank-and-file of Rabota, working at the organization’s establishments to keep an eye and ear open for new information that could be useful to the group, and working in the field to harvest even more information. Employees have access to a monthly stipend of credits equal to 100 x Organization Score which can be spent on tasks and equipment related to their duties. |

23-30 | Manager | Managers oversee the supervisors, and coordinate the distribution and sale of harvested intelligence to interested parties, along with the operation of missions assigned to them by District Heads. Managers usually have sizable contact networks of their own, and maintain an array of assistants to help them carry out their duties. A manager can have a number of minions from the Crime Lord minion talent present at any given time equal to CHA mod (minimum 2), instead of the usual single minion. |
31+ | District Head | District Heads are the regional bosses of Rabota, answering only to Dmitry and his associates at HQ. They keep the Rabota operating smoothly on a day to day basis and ensure that the true purposes of Rabota’s businesses remains a secret.
