Backgrounds are complicated things, but here’s the basics of what your background should have.
HOMELAND: Every character has a home, where was yours?
PARENTS AND PARENTS’ PROFESSIONS: Who are your parents?  Are they still alive?  What did they do for a living?
SIBLINGS: Do you have any siblings?  What are they doing right now?
CIRCUMSTANCES OF BIRTH: Was there anything unusual surrounding your birth?
MAJOR CHILDHOOD EVENT: What major event defined your childhood?
TRAINING: How did you gain the skills you have today?
